Private George Samuel Traynor

 

George Samuel Traynor was born on 12 March 1893 at Gort, County Galway, the fifth of six children of surveyor James Traynor and his wife Sarah (née Reynolds). By the time of the 1911 Census he was living at Ballymackilreiny, Moneyslane, County Down, with his mother and four surviving siblings.

Traynor enlisted in the North Irish Horse on 3 September 1914 (No.1125). He was discharged, however, in November that year, probably due to illness or injury.

He later worked as a tram conductor in Belfast. On 23 April 1920 he joined the Royal Irish Constabulary (No.71278), serving at Limerick until disbanded in April 1922.

It appears that he later emigrated to Canada.
